WireGuard on Android (Official WireGuard App)

WireGuard is the fastest way to connect on ordinary networks. You add your phone as a device on vpnbaron.com, then import its file into the free WireGuard app. It works as soon as you import it.

The screenshots are from Android 16 on a Pixel. Other brands look slightly different, but the steps are the same.

Before you start

  • A VPNBaron account with an active plan.
  • vpnbaron.com open on your phone or on a computer. If you use a computer, you’ll move the file to the phone, or scan a QR code from the computer’s screen.

1. Get the WireGuard app

Log in at vpnbaron.com and open the WireGuard page. Choose Android, then tap Get to install WireGuard from Google Play.

Step 1 of the WireGuard page, with Android chosen and the Get button highlighted

2. Add your phone as a device

Type a name you’ll recognise, such as “My phone”, and tap Add device. Each device gets its own keys, so add one per phone or computer.

Step 2 of the WireGuard page, with a device name typed in and Add device highlighted

3. Download the file for a server

Under Import it, choose a server, then tap Download next to your device. The file is named after the device and the server, such as my-london.conf.

Step 3 of the WireGuard page, with London chosen and the Download button highlighted

On a computer, tap QR instead and keep the code on screen. In the WireGuard app, tap + and choose Scan from QR code, then skip to step 6.

7. You’re connected

The switch is on, and a key icon appears in the status bar at the top of the screen.

Tap the tunnel’s name to see the details. Latest handshake and the Transfer counters show that it’s really passing traffic.

More locations

Each file is for one server. To add another location, choose it under Import it on the WireGuard page, download its file and import it the same way.

To import every location at once, open the menu next to Download and choose All servers (.zip). In WireGuard, tap +, Import from file or archive, and pick the .zip file.

Troubleshooting

It’s switched on, but nothing loads. Some networks block WireGuard. If Latest handshake never appears in the tunnel’s details, use Hysteria2 or VLESS instead, which work where VPNs are blocked, or the VPNBaron app.

It stopped working. If you removed the device on vpnbaron.com, its files stop working right away. Add the device again and import its new file. A plan that has ended also stops all files.

“You’re using all 5 devices”. Each account can add up to 5 devices on the WireGuard page. Remove one you no longer use (the bin icon next to it), then add the new one. The VPNBaron apps don’t count toward this.

Still stuck? Open a support ticket with a screenshot of the tunnel’s details and the server you used.
