Set Up VPNBaron in Hiddify on Android TV
Hiddify is the VPN app. Hysteria2 and VLESS Reality are the connection protocols it uses. You install Hiddify on the TV, add your VPNBaron subscription link, and connect before opening your streaming app. No OpenVPN file or separate certificate import is needed.
Before you start
This guide is for Android TV and Google TV. Check your device’s Settings > About or System information. For an HDMI stick or box, check that device rather than the screen’s brand.
Hiddify includes Android TV support, but store availability and remote-control behaviour vary by model and app version. Its Android app does not install on Samsung Tizen, LG webOS or Vega OS. Android-based Fire OS devices need their own installation instructions and are not covered here.
Have a phone or computer available for your VPNBaron account. Your IPTV or streaming subscription is separate from VPNBaron.
Setup
-
Activate your VPNBaron account
On your phone or computer, create an account or sign in. Choose a plan, or redeem your product key. Existing customers can use their active membership.
-
Install Hiddify on the TV
On your Android TV or Google TV, open the app store, search for Hiddify, install it, and open it. Check against the official Google Play listing, linked from Hiddify’s project.
If it is unavailable for your device, stop here and contact support for model-specific installation help, or use a linked router guide below.
-
Get your Stealth subscription link
In your VPNBaron account, open Stealth Mode and copy your personal subscription link. Keep the page available while setting up the TV.
Keep the link private: anyone who has it can use your VPN service. You do not need your manual OpenVPN username and password for this setup.
-
Add the link in Hiddify on the TV
Select + and choose the manual import option. Enter VPNBaron as the name and your complete subscription link in URL, then save.
Use the TV’s on-screen keyboard, or a paired phone remote’s keyboard on supported Google TV devices. Copying the link on your phone does not put it in the TV’s clipboard. Add from clipboard works only when the link is already copied on the TV itself.
-
Connect and allow the VPN
Select the VPNBaron profile and press the connection button. Approve Android’s VPN connection request. If Hiddify offers a service-mode setting, choose VPN, not proxy-only mode. Wait for the connected status.
-
Choose a server
Open Hiddify’s server/proxy list and choose a nearby location unless your streaming provider requires a particular country. Try the Hysteria2 entry when UDP works. If it will not connect, try VLESS Reality for the same location.
Hysteria2 uses UDP and can also be blocked when UDP is blocked. VLESS Reality provides an alternative over TCP; neither guarantees access on every network.
-
Open your streaming app
Leave Hiddify connected and open your IPTV or streaming app on that same TV or box. Sign in with that service’s own account if needed, then open a channel.
Keep any built-in VPN in your IPTV player disabled. Ensure the streaming app is included in Hiddify’s routing; use all-traffic/global routing if offered.
Check the connection
Confirm that Hiddify still shows connected after opening your streaming app. If the TV has a browser, you can also check its public IP address before and after connecting; it should change to the VPN exit address. Check on the TV, not on a separate phone.
Casting from a VPN-connected phone does not automatically route the TV’s connection through that VPN.
Troubleshooting
Hiddify is missing from the store, or my remote cannot reach a menu
Check the exact TV/box model, operating system and Hiddify version. Android TV support does not guarantee every remote behaves the same. Contact support for your model rather than installing an unrelated app with a similar name. Samsung Tizen, LG webOS and Vega OS cannot use this Android installation method.
The subscription will not import, or no servers appear
Check your membership is active, copy the complete link again from Stealth Mode, and remove any accidental spaces. Refresh the subscription in Hiddify. Enter the link in the URL field, not your IPTV playlist or an .ovpn file. Never publish your subscription link in a support screenshot.
Hysteria2 will not connect
Complete any hotel/public Wi-Fi sign-in first. Try VLESS Reality for the same location, then another server if needed. A timeout can have several causes; it does not by itself prove UDP blocking.
The VPN connects, but playback still fails
Check the streaming app is included in VPN routing and its own VPN is off. Reopen the channel, try another channel, or try a closer VPN server if the provider allows it. Weak Wi-Fi or an overloaded streaming service can still cause buffering.
