IKEv2 on Windows

Why use IKEv2?

Because IKEv2 is a secure and fast VPN protocol and it’s built right into Windows. No config files and no extra software needed.

This guide will walk you through setting up IKEv2 VPN on your Windows device using the built-in VPN client.

Before You Start

Log in at vpnbaron.com and open the Servers page. You’ll need two things from it:

  • Your VPN credentials: the card at the top shows your VPN Username and Password, with copy and reveal buttons. These are separate from your website login.
  • A server address: open the IKEv2 tab on the same page and pick a server.

Setup Guide

  1. Open VPN Settings Press the Windows key, type VPN, and open the VPN Settings menu.

  2. Add a New VPN Connection Click on Add a VPN Connection.

  3. Enter VPN Details Configure the following settings:

    • VPN Provider: Windows (built-in)
    • Connection Name: VPNBaron (or any preferred name)
    • Server Name or Address: (a server address from the IKEv2 tab of the Servers page)
    • VPN Type: IKEv2
    • Type of Sign-in Info: Username and Password
    • Username: (your VPN username from the Servers page)
    • Password: (your VPN password from the Servers page)
  4. Save and Connect Click Save once you’ve entered the details. Then, select your newly created VPN connection and click Connect.

Need a different server?

The IKEv2 tab on the Servers page lists every available location. Add a separate VPN connection for each server you want to use.
